Sorry Warriors on Wheels is on HOLD because I had a baby April 21, 2021. Looking forward to starting it up again soon. Hopefully January 2023. This little amazing child is what we have been spending our time on the last 2 years. What a wonderful ride. 





Project Awaken presents Warriors on Wheels (WoW) support group the third Tuesday of the month @ 7pm CST. This support group is for women and men who use wheelchairs that want to get out and take action!! Take actions to enhance their own and other’s lives by building a supportive community that pushes each other to become unstoppable in the lives we want to live. Some events we will split between men and women for privacy. These groups will have the women’s section to start at 7pm and the men’s at 8pm.

Past Meeting and Topics: 

February 16, 2020– Dating and sex after SCI. Women and men will meet at 7 pm. 

March 16, 2020– Bowel and bladder control and how to get supplies paid for through your health insurance – Madicare/medicaid. Special guest support from Tranquility products for free samples and insurance guidance. 

April 20, 2020 – Medical trials and specialized equipment for neural recovery – example: FES bike, Exoskeleton.

May 18, 2020– Accessible places to go in Chicago and surrounding areas- hopefully we will be past most covid restrictions. 

After we present our educational pieces we will take on two personal challenges each month, which we will recieve support from another WoW participant.

All meetings will be recorded and added to the Project Awaken Website with resource links.

Other future topics are How to become a para- athlete in the olympics, UTi’s and bladder control etc.. Please contact us if you have subject suggestions.

Candy at the Adaptive adventures beach party. Candy is always trying new things and seeing what is helpful for her recovery. She attends several meetings and workouts through the month to push her limits and find what feels comfortable.
