Get Active

Next Steps is a not-for-profit organization which provides innovative treatment for patients afflicted with a devastating array of neurological conditions.

NextSteps offers a unique fusion of physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and personal trainers working in tandem to provide functional, activity-based and specific locomotor training for people with neurological disorders. Next Steps was the first free standing, non-profit physical therapy and exercise facility devoted to the rehabilitation and overall wellness of people living with some of the most challenging and devastating injuries and disorders – SCI, Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and an array of other devastating neurological conditions. NextSteps also provide donation based exercise classes for people with disabilities on a daily basis. They provide the following classes and social clubs: Bench and bike club, adaptive tai chi, adaptive Yoga, Cardio and Core, Strong, safe shoulders and more!

I started going to Next steps Chicago in 2017 after I started driving. Since It is located in Willow Springs I had to be able to drive to get there after work in a timely manner. I started going for Physical therapy but then it turned into my second home away from home. I go there 2-3 times a week for PT and I also participate in their fitness classes and the Bench and bike club. The classes have really enhanced my recovery and helped me to build strong friendships with others with SCI. They offer a ton of diverse classes most are donation based. They also have a free Wheelchair clinic once a month where someone fixes your wheelchair for FREE!! You just need to make an appointment on that day and show up!!. Nextsteps is cutting edge when it comes to neurological recovery and their mission to help keep the disabled active is evident in their extracurricular fitness classes and educational events.
